Meet the Super Smash Con Team! Most of us met in college, but our close circle quickly expanded to include childhood neighbors and friends. We come from different backgrounds, studied different things in college, and have come to support Super Smash Con for different reasons. However, there is one thing that we share in common: we love video games! That’s what Super Smash Con is all about to us. We are a community bound together by our passion for video games, and we’re all crazy hype about sharing this community with all of you at the best weekend you’ll have in 2015!
JUSTIN | “Justin”
Justin has been Smashing on the 64 for the last decade and a half, and entered the competitive community a few years ago under the super-creative handle “Justin.” With his closest friends, Justin is co-owner of a LEGO recycling company that the began almost 5 years ago. Armed with the success his company has found on the convention circuit, Justin began planning Super Smash Con in September of 2014. His vision for a Nintendo fan convention, coupled with a large competitive Smash tournament, has become a reality!
What Avenger would you add to SSB? – Capt. America!
Duke Basketball Fandom
CHRIS | “Wife”
Chris waited outside the Best Buy for Super Smash Bros. Melee’s release on December 3, 2001 and hasn’t missed a day since. Along his journey, he’s covered the full gamut from FFAs on Hyrule Temple to Pro Player status with Major League Gaming. Today, he’s most active as a community organizer and Super Smash Con team member!
What SSB character would you like to see added to SSB? – Fox. I know he’s in all four games, but I’d just feel better if he were in there twice.
BEVERLY | “Biv”
Bev has been an integral part of Super Smash Con since day one. After all, it’s hard to not talk Smash all day when you’re married to Justin! After receiving her Accounting degree and polishing her skills in the private sector, Bev is now happily working on Super Smash Con full time, taking care of administrative duties and managing finances.
What LotR character would you add to SSB? – Legolas
Having a name that means ``Beaver Stream``
Gilmore Girls Knowledge
KEVIN | “K-Phat”
Kevin has the wild look of a mad scientist, and the beard of a disgruntled lumberjack, but don’t let that fool you. When programming for SSC, he’s cool as a cucumber. His Smash career peaked at a randomly assigned duel with ZeRo on the 3DS, where his strong start was quickly and unmercifully crushed (and streamed for all of ZeRo’s fans to see).
What Nic Cage character would you add to SSB? – Castor Troy, from Face Off. His Down+B turns him into John Travolta.
RENN | “aReEeNeN”
As head of Vendor Relations, Renn is in charge of bringing the best small businesses on the East Coast to Super Smash Con. With his reassuring attitude and heart of gold, everyone knows that he’s the man for the job. But get him Smashing, and you’ll see a temper as fiery as Charizard’s flame thrower.
What Team Fortress 2 character would you add to SSB? – Scout!
Identifying World Flags
Getting the car stuck in really remote locations
Jumping the wall in Wario Stadium
WYATT SETH | “Buffle”
Seth is a true gaming machine. Really. He is a robot built for two primary objectives: play more games than most mortals have even heard of, and take care of community management for SSC. What does he love more: Nintendo, or life itself? Some questions may never be answered…
What Hearthstone hero would you add to SSB? – Thrall
Elite: Dangerous exploration
DANNY | “NKid”
As a talented director of theater, Danny knows a thing or two about how to get a solid performance. Keep your ears open and you just might hear his golden pipes gracing the airwaves as we approach August 11th!
What Adventure Time character would you add to SSB? – Finn! Gotta keep it classic!
Hitting that high note in “Lazy Eye”
GEORGE | “Chunkybitz”
George might seem a mountain of a man at first glance, but under that thick exterior is a punk rock kitten ready to chew bubblegum and take names! As Director of Volunteers, George is the fearless leader of the small army of blue-shirts we’re bringing together for Super Smash Con.
What League of Legends champion would you add to SSB? – Braum
Being a hunk
Being undecided on pho
Laughing really, really loudly
Wearing a leather jacket
GREG | “Pizzabag”
Greg is much more than a facial hair enthusiast – he’s a tee-shirt enthusiast too. Want to know why video games should be considered an art form? Hunt down this cool cat and settle in for a nice long lecture. And if you need to get on his good side, a nice burrito (sans-guac) couldn’t hurt.
What Civilization V leader would you add to SSB? – Gandhi (with nukes)
