2019 Updated Security Measures

Security is one of Super Smash Con’s greatest concerns. We are dedicated to making our event as safe and secure as possible.

Everyone who enters SSC will be required to walk through a stand up metal detector and submit to a full bag check. If the standup metal detector is set off, they will be subject to a metal detecting wand for further investigation. Additionally, we will be increasing the number of security personnel present throughout the weekend in the Expo Center. As usual, all attendees are expected to abide by the Super Smash Con Code of Conduct.

It is our goal to make SSC as safe as possible and ensure all guests have an opportunity to have as amazing a time as possible. We want to create an environment where everyone is able to enjoy themselves and feel protected and secure.

Security Screening Tips and Rules

Please abide by these guidelines to make the process as fast and effective as possible for everyone.

  • Absolutely no weapons of any kind, including but not limited to:
    • Firearms, no exceptions for off-duty law enforcement
    • Knives/Blades, including multi-tools
    • Tasers
    • Batons
    • Blunt weapons
    • Any prop that violates our cosplay weapons policy
  • All bags will be searched. Make sure that your bag is open and ready to be searched before you walk through the metal detector. Consider not bringing a bag in order to expedite the process (maybe just carry your controller in).
  • You will be required to empty your pockets for the metal detectors, but not to remove your belt or shoes. Please be prepared to empty your pockets (that includes your phone!) as you approach the detector.
  • Please do not wear clothing that is likely to set off the metal detector. (e.g. large belt buckles, steel-toed boots)

Please leave any of prohibited items in your car or your hotel room prior to entering.
